Somerset Trust Company Seeking Participants to Preserve Train Station History
April 1, 2014
Somerset Trust Company is seeking participants for an upcoming oral history project celebrating the Connellsville Train Station located on West Crawford Avenue. Specifically, the bank is looking for people who are willing to tell their story or share their memories, have a connection to the train station, or have memorabilia or photographs of the station. Somerset Trust Company purchased the historic train station last year and will be restoring and renovating the site later this year. This community-wide history project will begin this Spring. The project seeks to preserve the spoken and remembered history of people in the community concerning the history of the train station. Interviews will be conducted with participants. Their stories will be recorded, archived and published by the bank. A public informational meeting will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Connellsville Canteen at 131 West Crawford Avenue. The meeting will begin at 6:00 and should end by 7:00. Eric Greisinger, a local historian, author and professor will be on hand to present the scope of the project and answer questions. There is no cost to attend, but reservations are recommended to be sure there is adequate seating. Please contact Joe Klocek at 724-216-9419 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to make a reservation.
