Somerset Trust Company on Top 200 Community Bank List
May 14, 2014
Somerset Trust Company placed 23rd in the top 200 most profitable banks and thrifts in the United States. According to American Banker, it is getting tougher for banks to earn a spot in the annual ranking. This year, 851 institutions fit the criteria for the ranking of publicly traded banks and thrifts with assets below $2 billion. The ranking is based on a three-year return on equity.
While this is the third year that the bank has been in the listing, the ranking of #23 is the highest ever achieved by Somerset Trust Company.
“This achievement is the result of the focused and committed hard work of the employees, officers and directors of Somerset Trust Company,” said G. Henry Cook, President and CEO. “It is a privilege to work with all these people. As we celebrate the 125th anniversary of our founding, we look to our future with an excitement and optimism that must resemble that of Edward Scull and his son George Scull, when they joined with their colleagues to charter this great bank in 1889.”
