Sean Cook Named Chief Executive Officer of Somerset Trust Company

 

Somerset, PA (May 26, 2020) - Somerset Trust Company, an independent community bank with more than $1.5 billion in assets, is pleased to announce that Sean Cook was recently named Chief Executive Officer by the Board of Directors at the bank's annual reorganization meeting. He is part of the sixth generation of the Scull/Cook Family who have led the bank since it was founded in 1889.

For almost 50 years, G. Henry Cook, Chairman of the Board and former CEO at Somerset Trust Company, has been the guiding force behind the growth and success of Somerset Trust. Henry Cook joined the bank full time in 1972 after graduating from Franklin and Marshall College. Henry began his tenure as President and CEO in 1988, and has served as Chairman of the Board since 1995. Henry will remain in that role as Sean assumes the duties of CEO. Henry is actively affiliated with numerous community organizations including Somerset County Industrial Development Council & Authority, the Continental 1, and Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, he has served in a number of capacities in the creation of the Flight 93 National Memorial and has shown a deep lifelong commitment to enriching the communities the bank serves.

I have been very blessed to have had a career that gave me the opportunity to try to make the region a little better," said Henry Cook. I cannot thank them enough. Their performance through the COVID-19 crisis, has me extremely confident that my successor, Sean Cook, and the team will continue to create a thriving bank long into the future."

Sean Cook joined the bank's staff in 2012 and served as Senior Vice President and Assistant to the Chairman at Somerset Trust Company. Prior to his career in banking, Sean Cook graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and spent several years doing process design and automation work in various industries. Since joining Somerset Trust Company, Sean Cook has earned his Masters of Business Administration from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon and has had several different roles throughout the bank. He is also a graduate of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association Advanced School of Banking and the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
